My family has a history of miscarriages and I was wondering if it is a sign of infertility? Thanks.

hmmm... not too sure. have you gone to a doctor and given your family history? i have miscarried too but was able to carry successfully after years of trying and some fertility enhancers.

Miscarriage is actually not necessarily a sign of infertility in women, however if miscarriages happen because of difficulties with a woman's reproductive system, then the two may be related and has connection.

mycah - May 19th, 2010 11:47 PM

Well, I agree with Daphne. I think it depends on the cause of why a woman has miscarriage.

I think a woman who experience miscarriage should ask her Doctor the reason why she has her miscarriage. There are some possible test that are taken to investigate the reproductive health of a woman to know if her miscarriage is a sign of infertility.

No, it's not a sign of infertility and woman who experience miscarriages need not to worry about. She can still give birth even after two successive miscarriages.

Yes. Many people do not know that infertility and miscarriages are often related. Some of the causes of having conception difficulties may also lead to miscarriages.

In case of having a recurrent miscarriage, I advised that the woman needs to consult an infertility specialist to know what are the proper things to do in order for her to get pregnant or conceive.

I don't think it has something to do with infertility because miscarriage just happens and that no one really knows the reason.

Yvonne - May 20th, 2010 3:41 PM

I don't think so, miscarriages and infertility are different, meaning the woman who has miscarriage had her fertilization before but infertility is not able to do so, no conception has done yet.

Miscarriage which is not plan, is not a sin. but if it is a real matter then it is the time to submit your self to have a clean-up drive for your uteros.

Fermie - May 20th, 2010 3:58 PM

Take good care of yourself, it is not infertility, since you can able to conceive, just see an expert of this case, the ob/gyne.

miscarriage wont affect your fertility even if you have had several. but if you miscarry in a row, then there is a problem. better get it checked!

Erica_Wills - May 22nd, 2010 4:41 PM

Got pregnant during my 20's and then years later I miscarried twice. Once at 12 weeks and the other at 16 but they were 10 months apart. It's been more than a year and we are still not successful.

But I have been reassured that it does not affect fertility.
