A friend has been using BCP for the last 16 years. She is now 35 and is finding it hard to get pregnant. Could it be the BCP?

I dont think so. I used BCP continuously for 5 years before we decided to try for a baby. It took several cycles of IUI, acupuncture, chiro and a vacation in the Gulf Coast to get me pregnant! Now we are hoping for another baby with IUI but the doctor assured me that BCP was not the cause.

Yes, I don't think it's the cause too. Probably, there are other reason behind her not getting pregnant.

Have she consulted a doctor already? Think this issue of problems of infertility needs to be referred to some specialists for proper solution.

Hmmm... really? I think my wife and I used almost all kinds of birth control but I never really thought it could affect fertility.\

With BCP I always thought it was safe since they are hormones.

I think there's another problem and not the pill. Has she gotten a check up already. Plus she is already 35, at this age most women find it hard to get pregnant especially if she is always stressed.

I agree with Hope. Some newly pregnant women still continue taking the pill because they did not know that they are pregnant. So it is safe. Unless of course you are allergic to the pill and did not know?\

An ex of mine took BCP for a year and always complained of a headache the first few days after resuming taking the pill. It was only later on that we found out that the headaches were an allergic reaction.
