is this possible in this old age getting into pregnant?

K3lly - February 3rd, 2011 3:27 AM

According to CNN recently reported on women at 50 years of age and older who had a baby: "A death of a 69-year-old woman from Spain, who used in vitro fertilization with a donor egg to have twin boys at 66, has the fertility treatment community bracing for a backlash. It could rival the fallout from octuplet mom Nadya Suleman -- and it seems to have already started".

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pregnancy over age 50 has become more possible for women, due to recent advances in assisted reproductive technology, such as egg donation. Typically, a woman's fecundity ends with menopause, which by definition is 12 consecutive months without having had a period. Perimenopause usually begins between ages 40 and 51. This is when the periods become irregular and eventually stop altogether (men, in contrast, generally remain fertile throughout their lives,[1] although the risk of genetic defects is greatly increased due to the paternal age effect). Pregnancy over age 40 is associated with increased risks.

In the United States, between 1997 and 1999, 539 births were reported among mothers over age 50, 194 being over 55.[2] According to statistics from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, in Britain, more than 20 babies are born to women over age 50 per year through in-vitro fertilization.

Working in healthcare, I can tell ya that it can put you and the baby at risk.

michjane - February 8th, 2011 4:14 PM

this is still possible. however, it's still best time if your young coz according to research i had read women are seen to marry late i.e. they settle when they are around 30-35 years of age. At this age the ovulation is very low in females and many times she may conceive a child but the ovule could not keep the child for a long time.

JosiePearson - February 8th, 2011 4:21 PM

I agree to jennjenngriffin! this is possible, but there might be complications adn the baby will suffer.

BunnySmart - February 9th, 2011 7:53 AM

it is most preferable at early age compared to old age... this may have risks at the baby and the ovulation is very late...

Miss.Junky - February 9th, 2011 7:58 AM

as much as possible, it is still best and ideal to get pregnant at early age..

I visited this new doctor yesterday. Amazingly, I left feeling a shred of hope even though there really isn't much that he can do...

But he didn't give me the "old egg" speech, and in fact told me to stop talking like that. He said "I have ladies come through here all the time, who are in their 50's and still getting pregnant with their own eggs, so I refuse to believe that your eggs are 'bad'....,SO, there still hope at older age ,

there are many explanations why a woman is looking for how to get pregnant at 50 tips just now. Actually, the ultimate reason is that more and more women these days give more priority to building a career, and earning a lot for their future financial stability. Thus, some deem this age as ‘too late to have a child’. In fact, finding the accurate methods to help you bear a child at this age is still possible.

for me as a husband, i should choose at younger age for my wife...old age is very risky already :)

cuttys - February 15th, 2011 11:13 PM

yes chances may be, but it is still best at the younger age

sweetie - February 16th, 2011 12:36 AM

as much as possible, i dont' agree on this age. why should not at teh younger age, less infertility case, much younger and strong, more strength and energy, less complications if there are , your age gap with your child is not too distant and you enjoy more..

Simple84 - February 17th, 2011 7:11 PM

if possible, i should always prefer at younger age..less risk, and more fertile :D
