If you have UTI frequently can it make you barren/infertile?

SK8 - September 9th, 2010 3:50 AM

I'm not too sure. some diabetics are prone to uti infection and usually have a hard time getting pregnant.

In very rare cases it can. UTI is caused by bacteria which can be pushed up during intercourse. This can then reach the ovaries, fallopian tubes and other organs. If UTI develops into PID then this can cause infertility problems in women.

This is why even if UTI is a minor infection, it should be treated immediately lest it gets worse.

I always thought that UTI was just like a fever. Common and not dangerous.

UTI is caused by the presence of too much bacteria in the uterine tract. That's why it is painful to pee because of the bacteria. It would make sense that these bacteria can travel up the tract and infect the other organs.

my doctor told me that UTI may cause deformities of the child or it may give illness to the baby. the worst is, it may cause miscarriages.

ive had uti several times before all tied to drinking too much coke.

it can be very painful to pee when you have uti and in one case I even peed some blood. uti left untreated can be dangerous so better get a urine screen when you have pain during urination.

Anything that is not treated with medication or antibiotics can have potential side effects. The area can get infected and get damaged because of bacteria. This is why it is important to pay attention to your body.

I agree with RamsesIII. Prevention is better than cure!

I never knew UTI could do this. I have had several episodes in the past but I always get treatment right away because it is really painful when you pee!

I just read something on the internet that recurring urinary tract infections can cause infertility if left untreated.
