Men who suffered problems of infertility are mostly have low self-esteem. How true is this?

jeanlie - October 19th, 2010 11:45 AM

It's because many men believed that being impotence is a reflection of their sexual ability and this belief often leads to low self esteem and depression.

There are men who can't hardly accept the fact that there is something wrong with them. The word esteem comes from a latin word that means "to estimate" So men with problem of empotence estimate themselves as not complete..that's why they always think that they are of no use.

According to the article that I have read, most men with problems of infertility are often have low self-esteem because it seems to them that being impotence would always make them an incomplete person.

Men have ego..that's why it's really hard for them to accept that they can't built a family of their own. That's why they felt so depressed and frustrated and most of all, have low self-esteem.

coz its not macho to be infertile.

I was devastated at first but once you accepted it then its fine. Besides you're not the only guy who is having this sort of problem.

ITs not really low self esteem for me, more like they feel like they are less of a man because of the infertility. But yeah its mostly a macho thing with them.

I guess, men should never loose hope..it's not the end of the world for them if they have such kind of infertility problem. The best thing they need to do is to look and never give up in finding it's treatment.

Depends on the man. Some don't care about procreating. What they do care about is having fun. Besides, if they were serious, there are still those who don't prefer to have kids. I think being infertile for them is a blessing in disguise. Not going to accidentaly knock up the wifey. :D

as far as I know, majority of men definitely get low self-esteem once they find out that they're infertile. it's as if you're not man enough if you can't have children.
