Ovulation Predictors
Ovulation predictors work by
testing your urine each morning for the
Luteinising Hormone (LH) surge which
indicates the egg is shortly to be released.
There are monthly kits, generally comprising 5
testing sticks. They're easy to use and come with full instructions.
Or there is a system called "Persona".
This is an electronic gadget that was originally designed to be used as a
natural contraceptive. But, because it too records and reports an
LH surge, you
can use it as an ovulation predictor. You will have a high initial outlay for
the device, and then purchase a set of sticks for use each month. The good thing
about it is that you can use it for contraception after pregnancy / breast
feeding.
If you try either of these methods
and - after following the manufacturer's instructions - consistently fail to
detect an
LH surge, you may not be ovulating. If so, you should
visit your GP for some initial tests.
Ovulation kits are available
