Been thinking of this for quite some time... Please give suggestions like pros and cons...

:)

some of the risks for the donor are: early menopause, ovarian cancer, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and sometimes liver failure.

for the receiver:

infections like HIV and multiple birth (when on IVF drugs).

Well, you can experience emotional risks, thinking that the child that was brought could be possibly yours. And it was other people who raise the child you created. it's so depressing, right?

Elaine246 - June 26th, 2010 3:05 AM

so it's not your kid genetically? I dont think I can do this. I would rather adopt than go through this procedure. If i was not meant to get pregnant, then I guess adoption is the next step.

If ind this too weird and dangerous. Like Elaine said, wouldn't adoption be safer, easier and more practical? There are lots of kids without parents!

So the egg isnt yours? For me the risks outweigh the benefits. I say adopt. I am with Marie.

To harvest eggs, a doctor stops a woman's normal menstrual cycle so her system will be more responsive to fertility drugs. This may cause vaginal dryness, fatigue, sleeplessness, hot flashes, breast tenderness, head and body aches, vision problems and mood swings.

Egg harvesting can be painful and has certain health risks, but is generally a safe and relatively minor procedure.

kol_meMai - February 7th, 2011 2:23 PM

does anyone has the idea on how much to pay generally for egg donor? coz i'm willing to donate.. :)

letberry27 - February 7th, 2011 2:41 PM

as far as i remembered, egg donors are generally paid between $3,000 and $5,000, as of 2010, for undergoing the procedure.

vev_webb - February 7th, 2011 3:19 PM

your so brave letberry27. I can't do this to myself, but it's very good to think that you will help an infertile couple and give them happiness. Your such a blessing to the world.

letberry27 - February 7th, 2011 3:24 PM

princess - February 7th, 2011 3:27 PM

what's egg harvesting by the way???

0165mm - February 7th, 2011 3:32 PM

Egg harvesting is the process of removing fertile eggs from an adult woman for in vitro fertilization. Eggs may be harvested for the woman herself to use or may be donated to someone else. The woman is given hormones which stimulate her body to produce multiple eggs. These eggs are then surgically removed under light anesthesia. Although egg harvesting carries certain risks and drawbacks, it does have a number of advantages that make it a good choice for many women.

well, thank you 0165mm for your response. :-)
