hey girls,

Well im a size 16 and trying to loose the flab before my finaces mothers wedding. Ive always enjoyed Badminton and today my fiance suggested we go for an hour, so we had quite an active game, jumping around everywhere and having fun, then we went for an hours swim. I also do 30 mins on cross trainer everyday and usually get 4.5 miles done in that time- but my question is, Im 4dpo today and im worried if i did fall preg this month (because im very optimistic and have a stange feeling this month) will i hurt or damage the cells exercising so much???

Thing is, ive suffered from depression since I was 15, and just got out of it, and I found exercise was greatly the cause of my success- and dont want to give it up! Plus its good for the lb's haha!!!

Any advice?

They say if your active before you get pg then you should stay active, just consult a dr before trying anything new. Swimming is good as it takes the weight away from your joints. This coming from someone who does physical therapy in the warm water pool. Good luck on losing the lbs.

I agree w/ csunshine. As long as you are exercising before conceiving, you can continue after. Just be careful not too get too overexherted (ie don't let body temp get too high or heart rate too fast) and make sure you drink lots of water. Swimming is an awesome low impact sport to boost cardio. Keep it up and lots of good luck to you!!!

E.lga is right.

E.lga and my close friend csunshine has same thoughts!

i knew i had read this, i was also wondeing this as i go to the gym and wanted to keep on going even when i was pregnant but didnt know if it was safe to, i obv dont want to harm or lose the baby coz of exercise, would never forgive myself

but aslong as you are sensible and dont over do it then it is fine! and good to!!!

glad you ask this question as i think about it often!!

My doctor told me that I can exercise and it's completely fine, won't do any damage to the baby etc...of course there will be certain things you won't be able to do because it's awkward/uncomfortable...but she told me to stay active.

ive read on the net that jumping around very early in preg is not good as it increases miscarriage- but how can that be when you think of centuries past when women had to walk for water and be very active- and in other countries- and also paula radcliffe who ran untill she was 9 month gone!!!!

PureMuffin - February 26th, 2011 1:51 PM

hmmm, thats a good point, you wonder how ppl years ago managedto have babies that were very helahy. i think there is to much worry put into our heads now a days. make you worry about everything dont they!!

i think i will just speak to my doctor, someone who i know and who knows what she is talking about. i would talk to your doctor to when you are pregnant and just see what they say.

just dont be doing any star jumps, trampolining etc when you are pregnant!!

I dont jump around in the gym so will just take it extra careful and lower the level etc.
be sensible really.
