Would you consider going overseas to adopt a baby? Example, like Angelina Jolie adopting Zahara from Ethiopia?

monique - October 8th, 2010 4:37 AM

Yes, why not? I would definitely have it as long as I have the money. I think it's kind of expensive.

There are lots of unwanted kids especially in 3rd world countries. If the cost is OK then why not.

I looked into adoption of babies in China and you need a lot of money to get kids from abroad. Not to mention that they are stringent in the screening process. I think a baby or child from the local orphanage will cost less than adopting from other countries.

I think local adoption is better. Less red tape and less expense.

IMO, Angelina Jolie and Madonna are able to adopt overseas babies because of their celeb status. Ordinary people like us have to deal with a lot of issues before we are able to adopt foreign babies.

Yes, I think I would grab the opportunity if given a chance. It's good to help raising kids from outside the country.

I think it would be expensive. Local adoption already costs like $2K. How much more for foreign babies!

ANNE - October 24th, 2010 2:54 AM

I am open to it. Even though it costs more, there are a lot of foreign babies that need parents!

I have considered adopting a baby from Korea. however they are quite strict with the whole process and it is expensive too. You have to pay to go there and then pay for the baby and for him to come over to the states. I think it costs somewhere between $10000-$15000 to adopt a baby from Korea.

I would consider adopting a baby like this but since I'm not rich like Brangelina, this is really more like a dream or fantasy.

Ok so let us say I'm rich, I would pick one out from a third-world country. I bet there are lots of unwanted babies there from teenage pregnancy. What's a good age to adopt a kid, younger is better like months old or would it be better the child is already 2 yrs old?

Would you be able to adopt a child that is not of the same color as your skin? That would be tough, in my opinion. Not that I'm racist. Think of how the child will be treated by other children when she grows up. She'll be teased and mocked knowing how school today is. Have you read the news on how one US high school has has 2-5 suicides over the past 2 yers (I think) because they couldn't take the bullying from other children? I don't want my child, adopted or not, to go through that whole process.

if I had the money, I would definately go for it. there are a lot of helpless children from thir-world countries that need our help, plus I can go on vacation that way too
