Is it true that if you underwent tubal ligation in the past and had it reversed increases the chance of ectopic pregnancy?

Geraldine - September 19th, 2010 10:29 PM

Yes, definitely! This is one disadvantages of having tubal ligation.

mitch123 - September 20th, 2010 4:21 AM

the thing about having ligation or vasectomy is that while they can be reversed, not everything will be guaranteed to work as they once were able to.

this is true with tubal ligation. most women, especially older ones usually develop ectopic pregnancy after their tubes have been untied, resulting in having the pregnancy terminated anyway.

I think it's already been expected, if you underwent tubal ligation, you cannot avoid the fact the possibility of having ectopic pregnancy. But just ask your doctor, probably, she can suggest ways on how it can be prevented.

Yes,there's really a posibility for it because you have undergo some surgery and it's one of the many disadvantages.

The chances of getting pregnant despite getting a reversal for tubal ligation are very slim. In fact, I dont think there is a chance of successfully going to term at all.

Tubal ligation as well as vasectomy carry risks. These procedures are done to permanently sterilize a person. You need to think really hard if you want this because success of reversal is rare.

Yes, there is really no assurance that you can still get pregnant after having tubal ligation and had it reversed..it's like putting back the broken vase..

PoshMama - October 23rd, 2010 3:11 AM

You have to be really sure about ligation. You need to be 100% sure that you dont want to have kids anymore. In my book tubal ligation is permanent whether it is reversible or not.

This is one of the reasons for ectopic pregnancy. But as to was really causes it is still unknown.

ImABabyMama - October 27th, 2010 2:08 AM

I thought that there was no known cause for ectopic pregnancy? One of those nature things?
