I read that women will be given Lupron during IUI treatment. What is the purpose of Lupron?

Im not too sure, but I think this is to normalize hormone levels before a HCG shot is given. Some women have surging hormones and Lupron will normalize it.

I thought it was SOP to give Lupron before IUI. We were given lupron too but I dont recall my wife having low or high HCG levels.

I am not sure if it is SOP but Lupron can stabilize hormonal levels of women who have hormonal imbalance. This is to make sure that the womb is having the right hormone levels to encourage conception once the IUI is done.

this is a kind of infertility treatment which is needed to normalize the hormone levels.

I never knew that you were given drugs during an IUI procedure.

Perhaps it is there to ensure that the egg takes to the sperm?

So it is just one Lupron because You are give up to 14 HCG injections before AI. I dunno if you are still given Lupron though.

Lupron or Zoladex (which we used) can also be given to prevent premature ovulation. When you are doing IUI, it is important that there will be an egg for the sperm to fertilize.
